Currency Converter

Convert between 160+ currencies using live exchange rates. Pick your currencies and enter an amount.

How the currency converter works

Enter an amount, choose the currency you are converting from and the one you want, and the result updates instantly. It uses live mid-market exchange rates for more than 160 currencies, refreshed daily, and does the maths in your browser.

What are mid-market rates?

The mid-market rate is the true midpoint between the buy and sell price of a currency, the rate you see on financial news. It is the fairest reference point. Banks, cards and bureaux add a margin on top, so the rate you actually get when you exchange money is usually a little worse than the mid-market figure shown here.

Worked example

If 1 US dollar is worth about 0.85 euros, then 100 US dollars converts to around 85 euros. Swap the currencies with the arrow button to convert the other way.

Good to know

Rates move constantly during the week and are flat at weekends when markets are closed. The converter shows when the rates were last updated. Use it as an accurate guide for planning, travel and online shopping, but check with your bank for the exact rate on a real transaction.

Where the rates come from

Exchange rates are supplied by free, public data services: the Exchange Rate API (open.er-api.com), with the European Central Bank (via Frankfurter) as a backup source. They are mid-market reference rates, refreshed daily.

Frequently asked questions

Are the exchange rates live?

Yes. Rates are fetched from a free exchange-rate service and refreshed daily, covering over 160 currencies. The converter shows the last update time.

Why is my bank's rate different?

This shows the mid-market rate, the fair midpoint. Banks, cards and bureaux add a margin, so their rate is usually a little worse. Treat this as a reference.

Which currencies are supported?

More than 160, including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CNY, INR, AUD, CAD, ZAR, NGN, BWP and many more. The most-used ones are listed first.

Is my data sent anywhere?

Only the currency codes are used to fetch public rates. The amounts you convert are calculated in your browser and are not stored.
